Here’s a look inside Village Kitchen, opening tonight in the downstairs portion of the space formerly known as Village Marquee. Gone are the white tablecloths and blingy chandeliers, replaced with warm-toned leather banquettes and lots of wood for a much more casual-yet-polished vibe; also gone are the $30-plus entrees that once dominated the menu.
Though the restaurant is located in tony shopping destination Highland Park Village, the price point is now downright reasonable, with a something-for-everyone menu by chef Andre Natera that’s got everything from raw oysters and lobster mac and cheese to chicken and waffles and a Pecan Lodge brisket flatbread, plus plenty of kid-friendly dishes including a Fruity Pebbles milkshake. Scope out the full menu right this way (there’s also plenty of gluten-free items, denoted with a “GF” on the menu).
Village Kitchen opens today beginning at 11 a.m. for lunch and dinner . If the family-friendly menu doesn’t appeal, stay tuned for the upstairs restaurant,Toko V, which will open in late September with sushi and “hipster Asian food”including ramen.
