Shopping shake-up: Balenciaga comes to Highland Park Village

How could any fashion fan forget the last time Balenciaga made a splash in Dallas? It was 2007 at Southern Methodist University, when the Meadows Museum, in collaboration with the Texas Fashion Collection at the University of North Texas, presented a stunning show of the groundbreaking designer Cristóbal Balenciaga. The exhibit drew famous visitors, including Vogue international editor at large Hamish Bowles and first lady Laura Bush. Well, Balenciaga will cause an equally stylish stir next month when the fabled French fashion house led by new creative director Alexander Wang opens its first Texas boutique, in Highland Park Village. All attention will be focused on space 11, formerly Calame Jewelers, where you will find Balenciaga’s full range of women’s wear, menswear, shoes, handbags and accessories. An FYI in the words of eminent fashion editor Diana Vreeland: “In a Balenciaga, you were the only woman in the room no other woman existed.”
