Get to Know…Cheryl Joyner with The Crystal Charity Ball

Cheryl Joyner HeadshotCHERYL JOYNER, 2024 BALL CHAIR

Please explain The Crystal Charity Ball’s mission and how you got involved with the organization.

I have been a community volunteer for more than 30 years. After attending the Ball for many years, I wanted to be a part of Crystal Charity and support their mission of raising funds to benefit children through programs and services in Dallas County.

Tell us a little about yourself and your background.

Before moving to Texas in the early 1990s, I was a regional marketing director at a bank in North Carolina. Past volunteer roles include Junior League of Collin County President, Jesuit College Prep School Board, Cristo Rey Dallas School Board, underwriting chairman for Baylor Celebrating Women and numerous fundraising roles in the community. My husband, Richard, and I have two grown children and 6-year-old twin grandchildren.

What makes The Crystal Charity Ball organization so special and impactful to the Dallas community?

Crystal Charity members thoroughly research and vet agencies located in Dallas County that serve children in Dallas County. After a five-month rigorous process, our 100 members vote to select the Beneficiaries and spend the remainder of the year raising significant funds for the children served by these agencies. The years I have been active in the organization have been very rewarding.

What do you enjoy the most about being a part of The Crystal Charity Ball organization?

I enjoy working with smart and dedicated women who truly have a passion for helping some of the most deserving children in our community. There is tremendous satisfaction in knowing that our underwriters’ generous donations benefit thousands of children this year and for many years to come.

How does support from community partners like Highland Park Village help The Crystal Charity Ball have a greater impact?

Membership events, visibility, sponsoring a contribution ticket and donating items to the Silent Auction are all wonderful ways to help. Highland Park Village and the Hill-Washburne-Summers family have been integral parts of The Crystal Charity Ball’s success for many decades—a true partnership!

What are some ways people in North Texas can get involved with The Crystal Charity Ball?

Attend the Ball through Underwriting donations, purchase a page in the Children’s Book, donate to the Ball’s Silent Auction or purchase Contribution Tickets. More information is available at crystalcharityball.org.

Lastly, where would we most likely find you in Highland Park Village?

I visit Highland Park Village several times a week – shopping and dining. I could never select a favorite place!
