Tell us a little about yourself and what led you to your job at Deno’s of Highland Park.
I have been at Deno’s since I was a teenager. My parents opened the business in 1960, and I would help out from time to time throughout my teens and early twenties. In the mid-90s, I took over the business with my brother-in-law, Harry Yianitsas, and we have been here ever since.
What is your favorite or most unique thing about what you do?
One of my favorite aspects of the store is that we have remained a family-run business. The shop was established over 65 years to repair, restore, and revive all kinds of shoes and handbags. We are still going strong!
How long have you personally been visiting Highland Park Village?
I have been a visitor of Highland Park Village my entire life. I was born and raised in the Park Cities area, so Highland Park Village is like a second home to me.
What do you enjoy most about the Highland Park Village community?
I love how the Village brings the local community together with special center-wide events, the annual SMU Family Weekend Shopping Stroll and the Christmas Lights Celebration and Shopping Stroll, which are personal favorites of mine.
What’s a fun fact that most people don’t know about you?
I can juggle!
Where would we most likely find you in Highland Park Village?
BIRD Bakery, due to its excellent staff and delicious food. I also love Mi Cocina, because it is the best Tex-Mex in Dallas!
