Since 1951, the dazzling lights have been a tradition providing shoppers joy and wonder as they visit the Village. The inaugural display cost $3,000, and the town and tenants attended a kick-off celebration on Thursday, November 29, at 7:30 pm, the week after Thanksgiving.

Today, the tradition lives on, although on a much larger scale and for a longer period of time. Due to the popularity, the season of lights now runs from mid-November to mid-February, making the Village a Valentine’s Day date night favorite.

The holiday lights are unlike any other spectacle, from the building rooflines to the many trees, every inch is covered in bulbous shimmer. The trees are wrapped all the way up to the individual branches, so much so that every two years the strands must be replaced to account for growth. It takes anywhere from one to two months to rewrap all the trees within the Village. The effort is worth it to see the joy the illuminations bring to the shopping center.
