Tell us a little about yourself and what led you to your job at The Conservatory?

I have been working in the luxury retail space in Dallas for over 12 years. I have always loved fashion and have a particularly strong passion for the beauty and fragrance industry.

After nearly five years of working at Forty Five Ten as a residing fragrance and beauty expert, I was recruited to join the team at The Conservatory in Highland Park Village. Thus, my new journey began as their wellness, beauty and fragrance specialist.

It has been great to expand my reach in this industry by trying something new. I have loved learning about the branding, concepts and creative direction of The Conservatory.

How long have you been the beauty specialist for the store?

I have been at The Conservatory for a little over a year. I joined the team in May 2020, and it’s been such a rewarding experience. Things are always changing, and I’m excited to see the continual growth and evolution of the company.

Did you always know you had a specialty with perfumes?

I honestly didn’t. My love affair with the fragrance industry results from working with niche perfume houses for well over a decade and my natural curiosity when it comes to scent.

I find it fascinating – the nuances of how a perfume or fragrance can affect human behavior. It’s a powerful instrument that can be used to evoke emotion or recall a special memory. Scent has the ability to change your entire outlook on how your environment or even an experience is perceived.

What’s your favorite or most unique thing about what you do?

My favorite thing about what I do is the people. The clients that I get to engage with truly make my job so rewarding. Everyone is different, and I love learning about their story.

The discovery piece is so much fun, too, introducing the client to a new line or a new product for the first time. Sustainable, high-quality brands that serve an intentional purpose in their consumption are very important to The Conservatory and me. There is an immense feeling of pride that comes from helping people select products that add value to their daily lives.

How long have you personally been visiting Highland Park Village?

Surprisingly enough, this is my first time working in Highland Park Village. I have frequented it over the years, however, as I enjoy shopping and eating here.

What do you enjoy most about the Highland Park Village community?

I love the unique vibe and mixture of restaurants and high-end retail. It has its own synergy, and there is always something fun or exciting happening in Highland Park Village.

Whether it be indulging in a little retail therapy or catching up with a loved one, it’s that third space that offers people a chance to get away from the grind of everyday life and relax for a moment.

Are there any secrets or fun facts you can share about the center, your company or yourself?

Secrets haha, well if you aren’t familiar with The Conservatory yet, I would say unto you that we are the best-kept secret in town. You must stop by and see our beautiful gallery space for yourself. I’ll be more than happy to give you a tour!

What are some of your favorite spots around Highland Park Village?

Café Pacific has a delicious lobster roll (and if we are splurging, get the fries to go with it). I love the curated range of luxury boutiques here, and there is truly something for everyone. You won’t find another shopping area like Highland Park Village. It’s such an iconic area here in Dallas.
