Founded by Texas native Elizabeth Chambers Hammer in 2012, Bird Bakery opened its second shop in Dallas at Highland Park Village in spring 2016, instantly taking everyone’s sweet tooth by storm. Hammer grew up in the kitchen, learning baking tricks of the trade from her mother, who owned a natural-foods store, and grandmother, who ran a catering company out of her kitchen. Hammer prides herself on using only the finest, all-natural ingredients. She not only believes in perfecting the best recipes for her guests, but is also passionate about giving back to the community. At the end of each day, all unsold treats go to local nonprofits and philanthropies, so the Bird team can begin baking fresh items the very next morning.
Known for its homemade family dessert and pastry recipes, Bird Bakery also creates wedding cakes and treats for any style. The Texas-based bakery doesn’t specialize in one particular type of cake and really thrives on custom creations no matter the budget. From trendy, naked-style cakes to vintage-inspired creations, couples trust this customer-centric brand with their wedding visions, and the Bird team works tirelessly to exceed expectations.
Before their big day, couples indulge in a full naked cupcake tasting, during which they prepare their stomachs and taste buds to select a cake flavor. Every cake flavor — from the award-winning carrot to decadent chocolate, nostalgic yellow to coconut candy bar, and many more — is served plain and paired with all the buttercream frosting flavors. For couples who just can’t seem to agree, Bird Bakery lets them vary the cake or frosting flavor by tier, so they don’t miss out on anything delicious. Once flavor and design are chosen, the Bird team gets busy to carry out every little detail leading up to the wedding. Whether carefully transporting a ready-to-eat cake or building it on-site, the Bird Bakery team delivers dream cakes by hand.
