7 Dallas Events to Hit with Mom This Weekend

Release some butterflies, arrange some flowers, and welcome goop to Dallas.

Sure, you’ll give mom a Mother’s Day gift this year (we have some ideas from Dallas shops if you’re stumped), but as much as she’ll like those peony-print pajamas from Neiman Marcus, we all know what she’d really love: quality time with you. (Queue the awwwws.)

Here, we’ve rounded up a few local activities that you can cherish together. Moms rule.

  1. Mother’s Day Flower Arranging with Draper James // Thursday (10am-4pm)

As much as moms love you, moms also love Reese Witherspoon (who doesn’t?). Inject a little Witherspoon magic into your Mother’s Day weekend with a flower arranging class at her Highland Park Village boutique, Draper James. There will be champagne, Draper James’ editor-in-chief Elizabeth Mayhew, and plenty of opportunities to pick up a little something sweet.

2. goop Pop-Up at Nordstrom NorthPark // Launches Friday

Whether or not you’re into the goop life, the opportunity to immerse yourself in Gwyneth Paltrow’s organic, luxurious world is hard to pass up. Lucky for locals, that chance arrives this Friday in the form of a Chinoiserie covered pop-up (natch) in Nordstrom NorthPark. Snag French Girl scrubs, Vitruvi essential oils, GP’s newly launched supplement packs, and more goopy goodness. It’s All Easy!

3. Arteriors Warehouse Sale // Thursday – Sunday

The Dallas-based company renowned for their luxe lighting is hosting massive sale in their Carrolton warehouse this weekend. Score 75-80 percent off hundreds of Arteriors’ one-of-a-kind samples, customer returns, overstock, and more from 9-5pm each day at 1720 Hayden Drive, Suite 140. Because moms love lamp.

4. SET & Co. // Friday, 6-8pm

The Oak Cliff shop is toasting local talent with a book signing for Gemma and Andrew Ingalls’ In Full Flower, which includes local flower power couple Alicia and Adam Rico of Bows + Arrows. RSVP to hello@setandco.com.

5. Texas Discovery Gardens Concert and Butterfly Release // Sunday, 2pm

A concert by The Women’s Chorus of Dallas at Fair Park’s Texas Discover Gardens would be perfectly wonderful all on its own, but the butterfly release at the end of the evening really bolsters the lovely factor. Click here for tickets and here to release a butterfly.

6. & 7. Home Tours // Saturday and Sunday

Whether you want to visit homes along East Dallas’ Swiss Avenueor Fort Worth’s Fairmount District, you can count on gourmet treats or brunch, complimentary horse-drawn coaches or pedicabs, and heaps of historic goodness.
