Get to Know…Ashley Merritt

I’ve been working in retail since I was a teenager. Retail has always felt natural to me, connecting with clients and building relationships. I was a customer at MADISON long before working here, so I already knew a lot of the great staff. When a job opened up, it felt like a natural progression to start working at a place I loved!

How long have you led the charge at MADISON in Highland Park Village?

I’ve been at MADISON for five years now!

What is your favorite or most unique thing about what you do?

I have a degree in interior design, so I love being able to merchandise a store full of beautiful things! I feel like my artistic eye helps me sell items to clients that fit their personal and gifting needs.

How long have you personally been visiting Highland Park Village?

I grew up in Dallas, so I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. I’ve seen the Village grow through so many changes, and I feel lucky to be a part of it.

What do you enjoy most about the Highland Park Village community?

Definitely the people! I love being in a community where I know everyone’s name and am always greeted with a smile! For all its grandeur, Highland Park Village feels like one big family.

What’s a fun fact that most people don’t know about you?

As much as I feel like I’m the epitome of a Texas girl, I was actually born in San Diego, CA! My family lived in La Jolla, and I try to go back as much as I can. It’s my happy place!

Where would we most likely find you in Highland Park Village?

When I’m not at MADISON, I’m usually next door on the patio of Mi Cocina. I love Texas weather and being in the sun, so anywhere I can sit outside with a good drink and good people is the spot for me!
