Get to Know…Christian Hendry

Tell us a little about yourself and what led you to your job here leading the valet team at Highland Park Village?

I was born and raised in Dallas. My favorite sport to play and watch is basketball, and I am a member of the First Baptist Church in Dallas. I began my career with Lonestar Valet in July 2011, where I worked at Shops of Legacy in Plano. From there, I transferred to different accounts around the area, such as the original Benihana’s of Dallas and Historic Downtown Plano. In October 2018, Lonestar blessed me with an opportunity to lead and manage operations at our newest account – Highland Park Village. The experience has been wonderful, and I look forward to being here for many years to come.

What’s your favorite or most unique thing about what you do?

Many might assume that as a valet, my favorite thing would be to drive the luxurious and exotic cars that we see here at Highland Park Village. However, without a doubt, the most rewarding part of my job is helping others and seeing them smile. It brings me joy to help visitors with parking but also assist the guests who need walkers and wheelchairs, direct customers through the Village, or help with traffic flow so guests can get from A to B without a long delay.

What is the most memorable car you have parked?

On Saturday, February 6, 2021, I was informed about Park House hosting an event, and there was going to be a special guest appearance. They wouldn’t disclose who that person was but mentioned that they would need the valet’s assistance. Low and behold that lovely rain-filled evening, a brand-new Rolls Royce Cullinan pulls into our drive, and who other than Patrick Mahomes and his fiancé Brittany Matthews get out. At the time, I had never seen or driven that model Rolls Royce and certainly never met Patrick before. Additionally, it happened to be the week he brought home his first Super Bowl win, which really made it a special moment I’ll never forget.

What do you think most people visiting the Village don’t know about our valet?

Regarding the valet service, my team and I are frequently asked by guests, “Am I allowed to valet my vehicle if I am going to this store or this restaurant?” I think that many people who visit are unaware that each guest going anywhere within the Village can utilize the valet service without any charge or fee associated.

What do you enjoy most about the Highland Park Village community?

I love how close the Highland Park Village community is to each other. I tell my team and each guest I speak with that Highland Park Village is its own little world. Everyone knows everyone, and they all treat each other like family. Going on four years, we now have clientele inviting us out to dinner and bringing us gifts as if we are their extended family.

What’s a fun fact that most people don’t know about you?

I don’t usually share this with everyone, but Christian is not my official first name. I am named after my grandfather William Fulbright. However, my parents decided to use my middle name Christian growing up, and it has been that way ever since.

What are some of your other favorite spots around the Village?

Honestly, there isn’t a place in the Village that I do not enjoy. All of the restaurants are superb, with excellent staff, and they each have their own unique patios and atmospheres that set them apart from the others. The retail stores offer the latest fashion trends and styles from all over. Highland Park Village is the place to be for upscale shopping, fine dining and beautiful scenery.
