Tell us a little about yourselves and what led you to your job at the Village Theatre?
I am a film buff and enjoy watching classic black and white films the most. I moved to the Dallas area in 2015 after returning from a deployment to Afghanistan. The plan was to continue with school and find a part time job in the local area. I was blessed with the opportunity to take over as GM shortly after my arrival and haven’t looked back since.
How long have you been leading the charge?
I have been working at the theatre since January 2015.
What’s your favorite or most unique thing about what you do?
We have the pleasure of hosting events at our theatre. Whether it is little birthday parties, large corporate events, or film premieres, it is the most diverse experience I have ever been a part of and I enjoy it immensely.
How long have you personally been visiting Highland Park Village?
Actually, I had never been to Highland Park Village prior to working here. The architecture is beautiful, the scenery is amazing, and I love how magnificent it looks during the holidays.
What do you enjoy most about the Highland Park Village community?
It was easy to notice from day one that Highland Park Village has a very friendly family environment. I enjoy the interactions with families that live locally. The community loves this theatre and it has been a pleasure to be a small part of the operation.
Are there any secret or fun facts you can share about the center, the Village Theatre, or yourselves?
The history of this theatre is incredible. It first opened its doors in the midst of the Great Depression in 1935, meaning its been open for almost 100 years. It’s fun to see pictures of what it used to look like versus now.
What are some of your other favorite spots around Highland Park Village?
Some of the places I frequent in the Village are Royal Blue Grocery, Bird Bakery and Mi Cocina. There are a ton of good options for food here. If you ever have a sweet tooth I would highly recommend visiting Bird Bakery.
