Partners Card is the signature fundraiser for The Family Place, the largest family violence agency in Texas, providing safe housing, counseling, community education and outreach along with many other resources to empower victims of family violence. Partners Card efforts have raised more than $20 million to help break the cycle of family violence in our community over the past 29 years. The Family Place Partners Card is proudly celebrating 30 years of saving money and saving lives.

Highland Park Village is proud to feature the 2022 Partners Card Honorary Chair, Paula Davis.

Please explain The Family Place mission and how you got involved.

In a nutshell, The Family Place is here to help victims of domestic violence become survivors.

In 1997, Partners Card Co-Chair Debbie Snell asked me to sell ten cards. I did! Since then, I’ve sold 4,100 Partners Cards, which raised $260,025 for The Family Place.

Tell us a little about yourself and your background.

I have been a Dallas resident since 1983, and I’ve been married to attorney Luke Davis for 46 years. This is our 10th year leading the “With This Ring” class for newlyweds and nearly-weds at Highland Park United Methodist Church. I’m the receptionist at the Junior League of Dallas where I served on the Board of Directors. I am involved in various organizations, including the Dallas Alumnae Club of Pi Beta Phi, Healing Hands Ministries, Lake Highlands Women’s League, and Lake Highlands Young Life. Our daughter and son-in-law, Meredith and Liam Crooks, live in Chicago near Wrigley Field with our two granddaughters, Poppy who is four and Phoebe who is two. Our son and daughter-in-law, Oz and Rachel Davis, live nearby with our 8-month-old grandson, Ozro V.

What makes The Family Place events so special to the Dallas community?

Partners Card gives us the opportunity to come together and shop at all our favorite merchants while supporting the mission of The Family Place.

What do you enjoy the most about being a part of Partners Card?

I’m proud of the fact that the price of a card has always been able to keep a woman and her children safe for one night.

How does support from community partners like Highland Park Village help Partners Card have a greater impact?

Highland Park Village is a legacy shopping center known all over Texas and the world, for that matter. The Village’s support, along with such a high percentage of their retailers, tells the community they believe in The Family Place’s mission.

What are some ways people in North Texas can get involved with Partners Card?

Buy a card. Shop at our fabulous stores. Encourage friends to buy a card. Shop some more.

Lastly, where would we most likely find you in Highland Park Village?

I usually can find something at St. Michael’s Woman’s Exchange for everyone on my list!

Highland Park Village is proud to spotlight our very own dynamic personalities and community partners in the Village Voices series. Get to know our past features.
