Get to Know…Darlene Grubbs

Tell us a little about yourself and what led you to your job at Peeper’s Eyewear.

I am a true Texas girl, born and bred here in Dallas. I like to say that Peeper’s “found” me. I was searching for a change and decided to leave the doctor’s office where I was employed. That’s when Peeper’s came into the picture, and the rest is history.

How long have you led the charge at Peeper’s Eyewear in Highland Park Village?

This February, it will be six years that I have been at Peeper’s.

What is your favorite or the most unique thing about what you do?

Every face is a piece of art and is only needing the perfect frame. And I like to think that I find that frame every time.

How long have you personally been visiting Highland Park Village?

As a kid, like everyone else, we went to the Village Theater to see movies. And as a family we always looked at the Christmas lights in the neighborhood.

What do you enjoy most about the Highland Park Village community?

Simply put, we are a family with a common goal — the satisfaction of our clients. If there is something we do not have I will send them to the other stores to help them find the item they are looking for.

What’s a fun fact that most people don’t know about you?

You cannot laugh, but I bowl competitively. I have been to Reno, Vegas, and Syracuse to bowl Nationals. I also travel in the state for different bowling tournaments.

Lastly, where would we most likely find you in Highland Park Village?

When I am not working, you can find me at Mi Cocina or Honor Bar.
