Get to Know…La Vie Style House

French for “the life,” La Vie holds a brand vision to be just that — a way of life. It started in 2013, when La Vie Style House founders Jamie Coulter and Lindsey McClain serendipitously met at a Pilates studio. A friendship bloomed and they eventually opened a styling company. Having noted a void for one-size-fits-all, day-to-night dresses, the two started making caftans for friends.

Barneys fashion director Marina Larroudé noticed one of the ladies’ dresses at a party and reached out to them via Instagram. Just six weeks later, Coulter and McClain launched their first collection at Barneys — the rest is history. After two successful pop-ups in Highland Park Village, the founders opened a flagship brick-and-mortar store at Highland Park Village on October 1.

At the core of La Vie is the mission to be an inclusive, fashion-forward, one-size-fits-all company. Coulter and McClain have traveled the world to source vintage and avant-garde fabrics for one-of-a-kind pieces. Their curated caftans, kimonos, oversize shirts, dusters, and accessories easily transition from lounging at the pool by day to socializing at parties by night.

Now, with a growing cult following among Dallasites, fashion bloggers, and even celebrities, the brand is diversifying with new styles while remaining true to the original vision. Coulter and McClain just launched a men’s shirt and duster, and their new boutique also carries headbands, turbans, and face masks. Beginning in spring 2021, there will be slip dresses, T-shirts, hats, bags, and sunglasses for purchase, too.
